Intel Binary Optimization Tool

We spoke about the Intel Binary Optimization Tool (IBOT) earlier. Whilst the list of supported games isn’t huge, three of the titles on the list are also in our main test suite. Obviously it’s early days, and some titles respond better than others. Final Fantasy XIV probably steals the show.

This is a new tool that explores some new ideas and acts as a new way that Intel can optimise software for its newest CPUs. Since extra performance is always welcomed, it is hard to argue with Intel’s desire to squeeze more out of its CPUs. As Tesco says, “” Every little helps”.
