MSI B760M Gaming Plus WiFi Review
Introduction and Technical Specifications
Introduction
The Intel x7xx chipsets have been around for a while. We know that many people, usually for financial reasons, wait until the new iteration before investing. It makes perfect sense. With rumours of the next Intel generation soon on the horizon we felt it was the perfect time to look at an affordable gaming foundation.
To this end we have the MSI B760M Gaming Plus WiFi motherboard for review today. Boasting, as you can see from the specification table below, a good combination of connectivity options and performance, it’s a great way to get onto the current Intel platform without busting the bank.
Usually we test our Intel motherboards with the Intel Core i9-14900K. However, as we’re reviewing a B760 motherboard rather than a Z790, and looking at an affordable build rather than pushing the boat out, we’re testing with an Intel Core i5-14400. With six hyper-threaded Performance cores and 4 Efficient cores for 16 total threads of 4.6 GHz goodness, it’s the perfect all-r0under, albeit one that leans more towards being a gaming CPU.
Certainly we know that the MSI B760M Gaming Plus WiFi has enough to be a great platform upon which to build a gaming system. The consistency of modern Intel chipsets cannot be denied. Thus we’re not expecting today’s setup to top our graphs because of the smaller CPU. Instead we’re seeing how close we can get to a full-on high-cost setup for a meagre outlay. Onwards.
Technical Specifications
Again a reminder this is our regular Intel test setup, just with the Core i9-14900K swapped out for the Core i5-14400F. We can’t wait to see how it fares.
