Just like the MSI Expert GPU you can see in the background, the box for the MSI B760M Gaming Plus WiFi is very silver. It makes a nice change to the usual colour schemes we see.
It’s crazy to think that all motherboards once looked similar to this. We’ve grown so used to the swathes of heatspreaders covering everything that to see a motherboard so relatively naked is a bit of a shock. However, we like the simplicity of the B760M Gaming Plus design. Any company that goes beyond the cliché black and red colour scheme wins our vote.
As well as a close up of the very 80s design, you can see the 8+4 12V CPU power input. Thin fingers only.
The fan headers for the CPU cooling are both in place. However, those of you who love your cables tidy will be annoyed that the pump header and CPU fan header are split either side of the DIMM slots.
Front panel USB ports are all present and correct. The MSI B760M Gaming Plus has two Type-A USB front panel connectors as well as a single Type-C port.
You could almost play a fun game attempting to discover where the first four SATA ports are. We can see these are labelled 5-8. Answers on a postcard as to where 1-4 are. Given how affordable M.2 drives are these days it’s only a tiny moment of strangeness rather than a big flaw.
The B760M Gaming Plus has two PCI Express 4.0 M.2 slots. The price differential between Gen4 and Gen5 drives mean that it’s very much in keeping with the ethos of this MSI Motherboard to stick to affordable techs.
We had to show this off. Okay we always show you the IO section, but when was the last time we saw a motherboard with a separate IO shield? They’ve been integrated for so long. Despite the old-school design, the MSI B760M Gaming Plus WiFi has all the connectivity you would require. The benefits of the modern Intel chipsets we spoke of earlier.
