MSI Edge Ti Overview

Intel Edge Ti Up Close

Straight away the Intel model has an uphill struggle. Not because of any inherent flaws in the design. It is, after all, the same as the AMD we’ve just shown you. It does, however, use the Intel Core Ultra 2S CPU socket. It’s fair to say the Intel 200 series isn’t exactly a big seller. Intel were so frightened by the 14th gen travails they went too far in the other direction. But if recent sales have tempted you, let’s see what the MSI B860I has to offer.

Not that there is a prize, not even kudos, but you could play a game of spot the difference between the B860 and B850. There is more than you might guess.

First up the Intel model has the same single 8 pin CPU 12V connector. It is more hidden though, tucked behind a heatpipe and longer heatsink cover.

On the AMD model the MSI Mystic Light connectors were at the bottom right, and the CPU cooler headers above the 24pin. Despite having a heatsink north of the CPU socket MSI have still squeezed these headers on the northern edge of the B860I Edge Ti PCB.

The bottom right is very familiar if you read through the previous page. A pair of SATA connectors ensure you can still use your old drives alongside the supplied two M.2 slots. Worth noting that one of those M.2s is PCIe Gen 5, so you aren’t ever going to be short of raw speed. The bottom right corner has the USB Type-A and Type-C front panel connectors, as well as the cables that connect the motherboard to your case. It’s odd how much extra room there appears to be on the Intel despite having the same footprint.

Front panel audio and USB 2.0 are tucked away to the left of the Frozr Heatsink.

The back has the same selection as its AMD stablemate. However, being an Intel chipset you gain a 40G Thunderbolt 4 port too. The LAN is also an Intel Killer model rather than the Realtek found on the AMD.

You still get the same all-white, no screws WiFi 7 antenna. Lovely.

This shot is the one that blows our mind the most. Glittery heatsinks. As if it being silver wasn’t enough.
