MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WiFi Review
CineIntroduction and Technical Specifications
Introduction
There was an awfully long period of time in which, it would be fair to say, the primary point of having an AMD based system was its affordability. The Phenom core platform was largely a endless series of disappointments and band-aids. Indeed we feared that AMD might disappear entirely. Fortunately for all of us who like choice, the Ryzen processors brought AMD screaming back to the forefront.
The Ryzen 1 were staggeringly good compared to AMDs recent history. Ryzen 2 a genuine contender. Ryzen 3, 5 and 7 have all been neck and neck with their relative Intel counterparts. Thus AMD now aren’t just the choice of people with limited budgets, but a suitable choice for anyone at all. From the mind-melting calculative capabilities of the Ryzen 7950X to the gaming prowess of the X3D range, there is a processor for everyone.
Processors require chipsets. Unlike a lot of Intel – although they have improved recently – AMD have never demanded you throw your whole platform away when a new processor is launched. The AM5 socket has been around for a while, and will be for the next generation too. That makes this the perfect time to hop on board if you want a little future-proofing, and the MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk motherboard combines affordability with a whole host of connectivity options. A perfect all-rounder. Let’s take a look at it in the flesh.
