MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk Max Preview
Introduction and Technical Specifications
Introduction
The MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk Max is the latest edition to the MSI motherboard range. Whereas their MEG models are designed squarely for those of you who want the best possible feature set and all the high end flashy things that cost a lot of money, the MSI MAG range is for those with an eye on the affordable. We’ve seen a few of their Tomahawk branded ones before here at OC3D, so we’re excited to bring you a preview of the latest model. Naturally a full review is coming up, but for now you’ll have to content yourself with a glimpse.
As the cost of everything skyrockets, we will always have time for a company which understands the need for a broad spectrum of entry prices. If you’re in the market for a new Next-Gen Intel CPU then even a motherboard and processor alone will be an investment. Perhaps going for a more affordable, and yet still eminently capable, motherboard might be enough to allow you onboard the Next-Gen train.
Enough pre-amble. It’s a new Z790 motherboard. We know why we’re here. Because we’re impatient for the full launch tomorrow. No, wait, it’s because we’re excited to see the future of the Intel platform. That probably applies to you to, so grab a cuppa and let’s get down to it before this turns into one of those meme recipe things with 8 pages on your grandmothers house.
Technical Specifications
Like all of our previews the Z790 Tomahawk Max has been written a reasonable way before launch, but unlike their contemporaries MSI aren’t too shy to actually tell us what is on the board. As you can see, high bandwidth technologies dominate the new Z790 range, from PCI Express 5, WiFi 7 through plentiful M.2 and USB solutions too.
