If you’ve ever brought a motherboard yourself you’ll be familiar with the extra bits and bobs you get. Quite often these are in the form of a few cables in a plastic bag. Maybe if you’ve brought a high end one you might have got a cardboard box. Just take a look at this. The MEG is the high end option in the MSI range, and the Godlike X-Edition sits at the peak of that.
The Godlike X-Edition comes in a limited run of 1000 boards, all of which have a custom nameplate and stand. We are lucky enough to have received a fully customised one that has the site name instead. So yours will look like this but say 410/1000 instead of OC3D. Very cool, isn’t it.
Speaking of Lucky, owners of the MSI X870E Godlike X-Edition receive a black Lucky plush that comes with some extra tags you could use as a keyring or simply leave on the shelf. Obviously this doesn’t really make any difference to performance, but if you’re big into exclusivity then that’s a big box ticked.
Regular readers will have seen an M.2 expansion card before. The newest Godlike has an all new model. With two Gen5 M.2 slots inside, toolless naturally, the single slot expansion card has a 70mm Double-Ball Bearing fan as well as an LED indicator at the back. Perfect if the included M.2 slots aren’t enough to sate your storage requirements.
Something that MSI have worked hard on is simplicity of building your system. The X-Edition Godlike follows its predecessor by including the MSI EZ Link. A single cable connects to the motherboard, the box itself can be mounted anywhere thanks to a strong magnet, and this greatly simplifies your cable management. There are seven system fan headers, a WaterFlow monitor, 2 ARGB ports as well as a regular RGB port. More than enough to let your tailor your system exactly, with the minimum of fuss.
Here he is in the flesh. Just a quick view before we delve into more detail on the next page. Just take in the design.
