A lot of manufacturers provide a one stop shop for their hardware and the MSI Z270 Gaming Pro Carbon is no exception. Everything is well laid out and responsive, with a lot of powerful features available to those of you who enjoy tweaking. If we had one complaint, and we do, it is that the SYS fan controller only allows you to go down to 50%. That’s frankly ridiculous. There is no excuse for not allowing us full control, particularly when taming noise is the important element of fan control, but most fans are pretty loud at 50% when compared to even 30%, let alone lower values. We do hope that MSI get this addressed quickly and we will update here if they do because as it stands, this would be a deal breaker for us.

High Speed Memory Voltage Issues
When trying to get high speed memory running we did notice some rather unnerving ‘auto’ voltages. This just concretes the reason why we take things into manual control when trying to push the envelope with high end kit. anything above 3200MHz was quite frankly silicone killing levels of volts for day to day usage, 3200MHz wasn’t great if we are honest and we would manually set ANYTHING above 2800MHz.Â
If you look carefully at the System Agent Voltage and the VCCIO volts running above 1.4v for 3600MHz, when manually set the memory was 100% stable running just 1.15v on both. Quite the difference and this is something MSI must get fixed and fixed quick or there will be a lot of CPU RMA’s from people that happen to be running fast memory and an ‘auto’ set up (yes this includes just enabling XMP) We are expecting matters to be resolved swiftly but for reference this was running V.123 edition BIOS.
