Gigabyte RX 6700 XT Gaming OC 12G

This is what we meant when we said that the AMD box lacked the ‘squares of tech’. The Gigabyte goes all in on them, including a note that the card is designed for 1440 gamers. We like that. It should cut down on the number of “I spent £40 on a GPU and it doesn’t run Cyberpunk in 32:9” posts. Hopefully.

Around the back there is a full width, Gigabyte-branded, backplate to help spread the heat around and provide the maximum surface area for cooling. It’s odd to see no real gap on the back of the AMD card, and even odder to see only a sliver of a vent on the Gigabyte card. Maybe these just run so cool that big gaps are no longer necessary?

Anyone for a big beefy heatsink? The Gigabyte Gaming doesn’t resort to any trickery, it’s a direct touch GPU plate attached to ALL the copper heatpipes and a high fin density. Why tinker with a winning formula?

Power on the Gigabyte card follows the AMD take with a 8+6 PCIe power input. What we do love about this photograph is the copper heatpipes bursting into view. It’s always reassuring to see swathes of polished copper.

Lastly at the bottom of the Gigabyte Gaming we find two HDMI and two DisplayPOrt outputs, as well as the vented bracket that is very familiar to anyone who has seen a lot of recent Gigabyte graphics cards.
