Our first image is partly to demonstrate the height available on the stand, but you can also see how thin the bezel on the FI27Q-X is, and how well the anti-reflection coating works. Any time we see a monitor – or indeed a TV – which is basically like looking in a mirror we do wonder why anyone would buy such a thing. No issues with the Aorus as it’s very matte indeed.

  

If you felt that perhaps we’d overstated how good the coating was at not reflecting light sources, we’ve left the shiny feature sticker on. We don’t think there is a better demonstration on the qualities of the FI27Q-X than that. Moving on to panning potential also gives us an opportunity to show off how flat the FI27Q-X is. If you’re not a big fan of curved displays then it’s nice to know that there are still high quality flat panels available. With a size of 27 inches you don’t need curvature anyway. The stand supports 20° of swivel in both directions.

  
  

Getting your display exactly where you need it is key to comfort during those marathon sessions. Anyone who has spent many years with an unoptimised display will know how much your neck and shoulders pay the price eventually. With a tilt between -5° down and 21° up you are guaranteed to blend this with the height adjustment and get the FI27Q-X exactly where you require it.

  
  

In the connectivity department there are two HDMI 2.0 and a single DisplayPort 1.4 on the back of the FI27Q-X. It also has two USB 3.0 ports, which are surprisingly useful if you use head-tracking or just want to plug your Stream Deck in without trailing cables everywhere across your desk. The placement of the OSD control joystick is such we’d recommend using the software, but at this is something most of us tweak once to calibrate the display and then leave alone forever we’re glad to have it tucked away.

  

Lastly it wouldn’t be an Aorus product if it didn’t have full RGB lighting panels on the back. Great if your monitor is up against a wall for that sweet backglow, not so useful if it isn’t.
