ASUS GTX1080 Ti Strix OC Preview

You would imagine that there isn’t much to be done to a graphics card beyond improving the cooling and possibly giving the GPU core itself a bit of an overclock. Apparently ASUS don’t consider those improvements anything other than a starting point from which to take the Strix OC into a whole new territory.

Noise is absolutely the death of enjoyable gaming. It doesn’t matter how good the image on the screen is, if all you can hear is the graphics card in your case going mental then it is difficult to focus upon the glorious imagery. The Strix cooler takes this need for quietness and goes all in. So you have a huge hunk of heatsink allowing the card to run passively in low demand scenarios – something that some of us in the office would kill for – and by using carefully designed fans even when the card does begin to be pushed you shouldn’t notice much of an increase in volume to distract you from whooping everyone you come across online. The last slide on this page, regarding ASUS manufacturing process, might seem like typical manufacturer blurb, but actually when you have two of the cards side by side, as you can see from the top image, then it is absolutely impossible to tell them apart. Not a drop of solder, positioning of labels or … well anything separates them from any other Strix 1080 Ti. Which is a good thing.
