Gears of War: Ultimate Edition PC Performance Retest with Crimson 16.3 Drivers

4K Testing with AMD R9 Fury X and Nvidia GTX 980Ti

We can see here that at 4K Gears of War: Ultimate Edition still struggles to run on AMD hardware, meaning that a lot more work still needs to be done on the part of the developers.

With AMD's Latest driver they have managed to claw back a decent amount of improvement, but nothing that gets them anywhere near the performance of Nvidia's GTX 980Ti. In terms of minimum framerate the game is much more stable, though with the games lack of framerate monitoring support it is impossible right now to show you any exact figures.

Shame about the framerate cap, but good to see it's very playable now.
But what the heck about that AMD 4K performance, AMD should do as good as if not better than Nvidia right now on DX12, so that reeks of more underlying issues with the game.
At least now I know I could pick up the game if I wanted, I have a GTX 970 atm so I should be able to run it just fine.Quote
