MSI GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X Mini Review

MSI GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X Rushkit

Introduction

The GTX 1080 Ti has quickly found a place at the top of most peoples wishlists, although the introduction of the Titan X – same as the old Titan X but not – might sway those of you with extremely deep pockets.

For the rest of us our dream card is still a GTX 1080 Ti, and like all manufacturers MSI have added it to their existing range so that you can stay true to one partner company. In this case it is the Gaming X that the GTX 1080 Ti has been added to, although as we’ll see there are a few other versions to fit different cooling demands and pockets.

The cooler is the Twin Frozr VI we’ve seen for a while now, and we were hoping that this new GPU would bring a new cooler to the market, but in the global financial crisis we imagine it makes perfect financial sense to retain the tooling from the regular GTX 1080, given their identical PCBs.

Technical Specifications

The Gaming X comes with three different BIOS settings to adjust the core clocks. Silent, which goes down the efficiency route, Gaming for regular duties, and OC Mode for those times when you require a little more mojo.
