Nvidia GTX1080 Ti Founders Edition Review

nVidia GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition Review

Up Close

As you might expect the GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition largely follows the design of nVidia cards which has become as much their trademark as that lurid shade of green. There are a few subtle changes to notice, particularly if the image of the GTX 1080 Founders Edition is burned into your brain. Firstly the Ti has a 8+6 pin power input rather than the single 8 pin we saw from the standard 1080. The backplate can also be separated to help provide the bottom card with improved air flow in SLI configurations, something which is always a concern when you’re relying upon airflow alone to keep them cool. Lastly the DVI port has finally been dispensed with. Much like the VGA port before it its lifespan has ended, with nearly all of us owning monitors which run from either HDMI or DisplayPort outputs. By leaving the DVI port off it has enabled nVidia to open the exhaust of the card up even further to help dissipate the extra heat that all this processing power brings.
