When looking at the game at all the graphical presets it is clear that the two biggest changes that occur in the game are detail at a distance and shadow/AO quality. 

Personally the most important settings in the game is object detail and Extra Streaming distance, as it will decrease the amount of pop in or detail changes in graphical detail as you move within the game. 

In this final set of screenshots the major graphical differences can be found at the edges and bases of objects, where shadows appear darker and more realistic at the higher settings.
