X= XRGB27WQ 27″ 165Hz 1440P Monitor Review
OSD
The OSD is responsive and clearly laid out. The joystick itself is also large enough to find quickly and accurate enough that you don’t get any misclicks. For our photographs we’re running just via an HDMI @ 60Hz, but we used DP @ 165Hz for our testing.
It speaks volumes about the quality of the panel that the factory settings aren’t far removed from those you would use. You have the facility to make some adjustments based upon personal taste, but for our review sample everything looked just as accurate as it does on our daily use monitor which has been carefully calibrated. If you like your displays to be pretty plug and play, X= have you covered.
There are a few adjustment quality settings available on the XRGB27WQ, although the panel is good enough “out of the box” that we’d leave well alone. No need to smooth things out or fiddle with the response time when there is no noticeable smearing or ghosting unless you’re running in HDR mode.
Moving further down the list you can adjust the aspect ratio between widescreen, 4:3 and default, whilst audio pass through controls are there too, and the joystick defaults to volume control when out of the OSD.
It’s strange to find a rotation option for the OSD in the menu given the paucity of adjustability available on the stand. However, we appreciate the somewhat futureproofed nature of it given that if you want to run in Portrait mode you’ll have to buy a stand, but if you do then the ability to adjust the OSD orientation is useful.
Lastly the other menu where you can turn Adaptive Sync on if you wish, and indeed HDR. The “Cross” puts a very dodgy looking crosshair in the centre of the screen and is best avoided.
