ASUS Strix Evolve Gaming Mouse Review

Up Close

To a large extent the Strix Evolve is much like any other good quality mouse you’ll have seen. The packaging is larger to fit in the extra top panels, but the mouse itself is the eight button, DPI switch behind the scroll wheel, RGB lighting type gaming mouse that has rapidly taken over the gaming peripheral world.

Certainly it reminds us of the ROG Pugio we’ve only just looked at if you look at the side panels. That Mayan inspired texture to the rubberised sides is an ASUS hallmark. We like that ASUS understand a ambidextrous mouse should be just as desirable for the left handed users as the right handed ones, hence the Strix logo on both leading edges of the side panels.

We feared when we first saw that the top panels were swappable that we’d be spending the week with a screwdriver in hand, but instead the top panels are attached with a combination of clips and magnets that let you swap them in a matter of moments, entirely tool-less.

Because two of the panels are humped and two lower, you can either have a pairing which apes the ergonomic slope you normally associate with right handed mice, or combine two low/high ones for either a flatter mouse or one with a more pronounced palm hump.
