be quiet! Dark Perk Ergo Review
Conclusion
Conclusion
The be quiet! Dark Perk Ergo is very much a mouse that knows its audience. Whilst the Dark Mount brought every possible bell and whistle to the party, the Dark Perk Ergo mouse pares things back. In fact an argument can be made it’s pared things back too far.
Often when you have a sensor with the capabilities of the PixArt PAW 3950 that’s the primary focus. 32000 DPI means you’ve got enough accuracy and speed for even the twitchiest game. By now sensors are so crazy capable that the number of people able to utilise them to their fullest extent is in the dozens. We can all enjoy high numbers on paper, but remember you’re paying a lot of money for the sensors with the biggest potential. Without any lighting or custom buttons to distract you, you’ll need to require all the Dark Perk Ergo can offer to justify the expense.
On top of that massive sensor be quiet! have drizzled the famous Omron switches. Here they are the flagship Optical D2FP-FN2 ones. With a potential support for 200 clicks per minute and a lifespan of a million clicks, high APM users will be sated. Additionally if you ever feel like letting the rage monster free, they support 100G shock resistance. That high APM and high DPI is all fed through a 8000Hz polling rate. Obviously this will annihilate the battery life – 100 hours at 1000Hz – but if you’re truly capable of utilising all the Dark Perk Ergo can do, such a high polling rate is vital.
All those elements are in one of the lightest chassis around. A mere 55g total. This might make you fear for controllability, but be quiet! have coated it with a very grippy surface. Almost a throwback to the old days. It makes it effortless to use.
Final Thoughts
That is it though. You don’t get any extra buttons you can customise. Even the DPI button we usually use for this is hidden underneath. There is no lighting of any kind. Nowhere to store the dongle. It’s a mouse. Think of it as a high performance, racing mouse. An F1 mouse if you will. You might not be able to take your family on holiday with it, or stuff it full of shopping, but if you want its very specific set of skills, little else comes close.
