Cooler Master SK621 Wireless Keyboard Review

We’ve often spoken about the need for product packaging to be clear and concise, and the SK621 definitely ticks the right boxes. With a big flash of purple it marks itself out as a Cooler Master product whilst the product image itself leaves nobody in any doubt as to the looks of their purchase. Add to this the important technology logos and everything you could wish to find is present and correct.

  
  

Within the box we find a key puller for those low profile key caps, alongside the requisite USB cable that can charge as well as run the keyboard, and the all important guide for the many, many key combinations that let you control the SK621 without needing to install any software.

  

Unquestionably the first word that springs to mind when you see the SK621 in the flesh is diminutive. With a combination of tenkeyless design and small chiclet key caps there isn’t a millimetre of wasted space and it could just about fit in an inside pocket if you had particularly generous tailoring. There are no feet on the underside but this is a keyboard designed to be used on your lap or in a pinch, rather than the type upon which to write your magnum opus.

  
  

Cooler Master deserve a lot of credit for managing to squeeze Cherry MX Low Profile switches into the chassis of the SK621. Just because it’s a Bluetooth keyboard in a compact design doesn’t mean that it has to be a squidgy typing experience, and with the smooth Cherry MX red switches in place it won’t be.

  

Although this shot is largely intended to show off the Cherry switches and low profile key caps, you can also get a glimpse at how many keys have secondary functions. To get the most out of the SK621 you’ll need a reference guide on hand for a while until you’ve learnt all its subtleties.
