We keep saying it but it always bears repeating, in a world of endless black boxes we love the fact the Corsair Gaming arm, whilst no longer a sub-brand, has kept the yellow background. You can tell at a glance which products are Corsair ones, and in this world of brand identity that counts for a lot.

  
  

Within the box you get the quick start guide, warranty and of course the mouse itself. Thankfully the days of getting driver CDs are long behind us, saving the environment and ensuring that all users have the most up to date software and firmware on their mouse. Okay the iCUE package isn’t a light download, but it supports all Corsair peripherals so you either only need to do it once or might already have it.

  

Whilst this new Elite take upon the Corsair M65 formula might be lighter than its predecessor, you still have the opportunity to tune the weight to your preference. We know that many people like a bit more inertia in their mice, particularly if you began your gaming career back when mice weighed about the same as a brick. You also get a good view of how robust the skeleton of the M65 Elite is. It certainly ticks the ‘robust’ box.

  

From the left hand side you can see the button that made the M65 famous, the Sniper button. Naturally you can use the iCUE software to bind this to anything you desire, but it feels most at home when used to detune the DPI of your mouse to allow for those accurate headshots.
