Up Close

The Corsair packaging is famous for its clear product imagery and bright yellow border. Although the internal packaging is an exercise in your origami skills, everything is well protected. If you’re the type who likes to leave your packaging on display the Corsair box always delivers something worthy of your shelf.

Within the M65 Ultra Wireless box we find the excellent user guide that walks you through all the important functions of the newest entry into the Corsair mouse range. You also get a nice length USB Type-A to Type-C cable for charging or, if you prefer, running the M65 Ultra in wired mode. The Corsair Slipstream wireless receiver is one of those super-small examples so make sure you keep it close by if you unplug it.

The M65 Ultra Wireless is a chunky design with some Shakira level hips giving way to a slender waist. The buttons are all large and easy to press. None of your tiny, “was that up or down?”, numbers here. Even the DPI light behind the scroll wheel is bold and clear. It’s a very pleasing design. Beneath the main buttons are the new Omron optical switches which dispense with the mechanical microswitch and the tiny bit of latency that brings whilst the software waits for the steel to stop bouncing. Instead you have instant, positive response every single click.

On the underside we have the famous all-metal chassis that is such a hallmark of the M65 range. Three weight slots accept the supplied weights which are either 1.5g screws, or the combination of that with a 4.5g weight. Perfect for fine tuning your intertia value. Away from that we have the power and receiver switch which pairs the M65 Ultra WL with either the Corsair Slipstream Technology or via Bluetooth.

Lastly the sides have a heavy texture to ensure the M65 Ultra remains in your grasp at all times. The side buttons are only on the left and consist of chunky back/forward buttons as well as the large sniper button. All of which, of course, can be assigned to anything you like.
