Up Close

When dealing with a small volume producer we’d have forgiven Glorious for skimping on the packaging, but instead we have a gorgeous box, designed beautifully on the outside and with a lot of care and attention to detail on the inside too. Many of the bigger manufacturers could learn a thing or two here.

Within the box you have the mouse itself, some stickers, a quick start guide, cable and wireless receiver. If we had one small complaint it’s that the font size on the guide is so tiny that it’s one step above microfiche. Thankfully their website is easy to read and mice are simple enough to use so it’s not a massive issue. Just plug it in.

After a raft of mice with RGB lasers, dozens of buttons and weighing more than the Titanic, there is something, ahem, glorious about a mouse which is so utterly focused that the colour you chose is all you can see.

The feet on the underside are covered with tape, making certain that they have no scuffs or things on them before you use them. There is only one power mode for the wireless – receiver only – rather than other bluetooth toggles and what-have-you. There is more branding on the bottom than anywhere else on the mouse, so it’s much less showy and gives off a classy air.

The receiver can either be used as the tiny dongle or slotted into its home which then gets connected to your system via a USB port on the other side. This gives you plenty of flexibility in placement if your rig isn’t right next to your mousemat.

Besides the LMB/RMB and DPI toggle on top, these are the only two buttons on the Model O Pro Golden Panda. You also get the only bit of branding on the left side. The compact dimensions are perfect for both claw and fingertip players, as well as those with smaller hands.

The right hand side has the Glorious Gaming Forge logo, marking this out as one of their premium models. You can also get a good look at the matte finish which feels amazing in the hand.

The cable locks securely in place if you wish to play whilst you charge or just want to run wired with the confidence you won’t drop out mid-session. Although given the 80+ hour battery life you’d have to have a caffeine drip and be forgetful to get near to the limit.

The Model O Pro has a listed weight of 55g and it’s fair to say it’s darn close. Certainly in the hand it is so light it’s almost not there. Lovely.
