Wherever the M05 had been before it came to the OC3D offices certainly didn’t look after it very well, so first impressions aren’t wonderful. However, it’s really shiny, and the black packaging coupled to a clear perspex lid show it off well.

There aren’t any side buttons, or additional anything. It’s a mouse with two buttons and a scroll wheel. That’s your lot. 

The underside has all the controls. There are four different DPI settings which, oddly, just double as you go through. We understand why, but the likelihood of you wanting something between 1800DPI and 3500DPI is pretty high given how much of a steep change it is. Most people would struggle to notice the difference between 450 and 900, but 1800 and 3500 is a massive increase in sensitivity. The polling rate can also be adjusted, although as long as you haven’t got a computer from the 90s you can just stick it on 1000Hz and forget about it.

The switch at the bottom, color [sic] is the one which does all the fun things. On the right the mouse lighting is off, in the middle it’s on, and the left hand side toggles between a colour cycle, and once it’s on the colour you want you flick it again and it stays there.

Rather than just light up a couple of small bits, the whole mouse lights up. It was a shock when we first plugged it in. If you’ve ever felt that your mouse didn’t quite show of your colour scheme as brashly as you desired, have we got the one for you.
