MSI Vigor GK70 TKL RGB Mechanical Keyboard Review

The Vigor GK70 packaging is very reminiscent of the MSI laptop and motherboard boxes with the clear product image and lots of attention paid to the RGB aspects. On the reverse we find a full feature list including some extra keycaps at no extra expense. Given how pricey those can be you can imagine how happy we were.

  
  

Beneath the keyboard we find the aforementioned extra keycaps and MSI haven’t scrimped either. As well as four WASD metal (actual metal, not just shiny plastic) keycaps there are regular WASD offerings and 12 heavily textured blank ones for those of you who want grip and know which key is which without looking. Even if you can’t touch type most of us have learnt the WASD/Left CTRL/Space setup so prevalent in FPS games.

  

The GK70 itself looks spectacular. MSI have eschewed the more standard practise of going for an all black chassis and instead we find a brushed aluminium number with a large MSI Dragon logo. The keys themselves have a slightly squished font, but are still pretty clear. As you can see there are plenty of keys with extra features to allow you loads of control without resorting to software.

  
  

Demonstrating the attention to detail of the Vigor GK70 we have a MSI Dragon snuck onto the side, and what heavily bevelled sides they are too. No slab sided tedium here. The feet also, as you can see, raise the rear of the keyboard pretty high to help give you a comfortable typing experience.

  
  

The cable is a braided USB to mini-USB keyboard, all very standard stuff. By utilising the mini-USB it also lets you trawl eBay or Amazon and find an Android phone cable in the colour you like, should you so desire.
