Roccat Kain 200 AIMO Wireless Mouse Review

The Kain 200 AIMO box follows familiar Roccat design of clear product shot and feature listing. The only thing we find curious is how Roccat has dispensed with their famous ice blue branding colour, but perhaps that’s just a reflection of the market’s shift towards RGB products and thus monochrome logos.

  
  

Inside we find the familiar Kain shape, looking just as gorgeous as it did on the wired 120 version. Pictures don’t do justice to the quality of the coating nor how pebble-like it feels in your hand. We also find a quick installation guide. Normally excellent this one is particularly poor, but we’ll get to that in our conclusion.

  

The provided cables have many functions. The main braided cable is a mini-USB which attaches to the front of the Kain 200 AIMO for charging purposes, or can be inserted into the adaptor. Alongside that is the receiver which is a standard USB side and can plug into the main cable if you’re short of ports. If you aren’t you could plug the receiver in and leave the main cable just for charging purposes. Flexibility is the key.

  

On the underside we find three large low friction pads, whilst in the middle there is a pairing button alongside a power on and off switch. The sensor is centrally mounted which shouldn’t make a difference but we always feel it’s just nicer having it right in the middle than offset to one side.

  

Lastly on the side we find two side buttons and no extra grip pads. Thankfully the coating is grippy enough that you actually don’t need any textured sides, and it lends the Kain 200 AIMO a lovely smooth look. The buttons are just as crisp as those on the top side, a statemnet that can’t be applied to all side buttons by any means.
