Introduction

Roccat have long been one of our favourite peripheral manufacturers. Largely because they get the product right to begin with and then only make slight tweaks and refinements of the formula in subsequent iterations. It’s all too tempting to just make a product and see if it sells before adjusting it, but Roccat go the other way and hit the ground running.

Despite this, the one area of their range we’ve always felt was a little behind the competition was their keyboards. They’ve all been enjoyable products to use and with a good range of features, but Roccat have never, until now, produced a keyboard which really piles on the latest elements to stand as a flagship of their range.

Today’s review sees that flagship position rectified with the Ryos MK FX. A mechanical gaming keyboard with full-spectrum RGB lighting, but that still includes the Roccat design touches that make their hardware so recognisable.  

Technical Specifications

The Ryos MK FX specifications read like a what’s what of current keyboard hardware thinking. Underpinned by the de facto standard Cherry MX switches – Brown in our review sample – that are supported by per key RGB illumination. 30 n-key rollover ensures that even those of you with three arms wont run find yourself enduring ghost presses. Add to that 8 dedicated programmable keys, 2 ARM Cortex processors and Roccat’s own Easy-Shift [+] technology and there is plenty of customisation available.
