The Screen of the Show – MSI’s Optix MAG491C 144Hz FreeSync Monitor

While HDR is becoming all the rage and Nvidia’s BFGD’s are taking PC-grade gaming monitors to the Big Screen TV form factor, it was MSI who lest us thinking, “I want that!”

As you know, OC3D Tom Logan is an avid racing game fan, making the prospect of an ultra-wide screen extremely tantalising. MSI’s new Optix MAG491C is two 1080p displays in one, offering two times the screen width of standard displays to deliver an effective dual-screen setup with no bezels.

For racing games, this can offer users a field of view that is two times wider and standard 1080p monitors, with MSI adding support for 144Hz refresh rates and AMD FreeSync also to deliver a high framerate, tear-free gaming experience.

There are some products that we simply want to pick up and take home at these events. The MSI Optix MAG491C is one of those products. While HDR is flashy and higher resolutions are all the rage; this is a display that we feel would get a lot of use at home, though a dual 1440p version would be equally attractive.
