A day at Silverstone with #ROGApex – Video Log 

Below we have TTL’s summary of the day’s events at #ROGApex, detailing his early start, his travels, and many of the Republic of Gamers products that were on display at the event. We hope to review some of these new products soon, as this will give us a change to have a deeper look at them and access their full capabilities. The highlight products of the event were certainly ASUS’ #ROGOLEDMonitor range, which is comprised of the ROG Swift OLED PG48UQ and ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ, though we do have a soft spot for ASUS’ new ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 router.

Preparation – Simulated Racing

To prepare for some proper racing, attendees at #ROGApex got to race three laps around Silverstone using a Vesaro racing sim setup with three ASUS ROG PG48UQ OLED monitors. This setup was incredible, and TTL managed to post one of the fastest lap times on the simulator. It would have been nice to have more than three laps to learn the track before trying things for real, but a lot of folks were at the event, and that meant that our time with this simulator setup had to be limited. 

In the control room

It may not be mission control at the Kenedy Space Center, but Silverstone’s race control room is a sight to behold. All areas of the track are on-screen, and staff are ready to respond to any issue should anything go amiss. Here, drivers can be warned if there is an accident ahead, and support can be rallied for drivers in the event of a crash. In all, this is a well-tuned setup for Silverstone’s circuits, be it for F1, track days, or events like #ROGApex.

Michael Vitulli, TTL’s Instructor

Somebody needed to show TTL around Silverstone, and that job went to Michael Vitulli, an ADRS driving instructor who still competes in the UK’s motorsports scene. An instructor can make or break a race day experience, and from our experience Michael is an excellent instructor. He really made TTL’s day at Silverstone, and we can give him a strong recommendation. Safe racing Michael.

On the track, we got to drive three different vehicles, a BMW M2, an Aston Martin V8 Vantage and a Ferrari F430. Of all three vehicles, TTL reported that the F430 was the best “Drivers Car” though the Vantage did prove to be the faster vehicle on the track.

Special thanks to ASUS for inviting us over for their #ROGApex event and for giving us a look at their #ROGOLEDMonitor lineup. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the event and look forward to having a more in-depth look at some of the products you showcased at the event. Racing around Silverstone was well worth the travel time, and seeing ASUS’ #ROGOLEDMonitor products with high-end Vesaro racing sim setups was a proper treat. We look forward to seeing the ASUS ROG team again at future events.
