APNX Max G1 1200 PSU Review
Conclusion
The APNX MAX G1 1200 is a solid power supply
A lot of things can go wrong when entering a new market, and APNX has successfully avoided those pitfalls. The APNX MAX G1 1200 performed admirably during our testing, with solid efficiency results and good voltage stability.
APNX didn’t just slap their logo on a generic PSU and call it a day. Their use of debossed cables and cable combs makes it clear that they are targeting enthusiasts. Furthermore, this PSU is incredibly quiet. We couldn’t hear it during use, and that claim is backed up by Cybenetics, which gave this PSU an A-class low-noise rating.
APNX’s MAX G1 naming scheme suggests that APNX plans to be in the PSU market long term. Perhaps we will see newer “G2” series units in the future, or more affordable “non-MAX” G1 series units. Either way, it is encouraging to see a brand have a forward-thinking naming scheme. Far too many brands have exceptionally messy naming schemes. Thank god APNX has avoided that mess.
At 140mm, this PSU is rather short for a 1200W PSU. That’s great news for PC builders, as it maximises the space available for cable management. More compact PC builds need not sacrifice power. It’s even suitable for workstation users with its dual 12V-2×6 power connectors. Great news for users who want to have two of Nvidia’s 300W RTX PRO series GPUs.
Honestly, the APNX MAX G1 1200W gives us nothing to complain about. It delivers its claimed efficiency levels, contains the features we’d want, and is compact enough to make case compatibility a non-issue. It’s a solid product, certainly worthy of our seal of approval.
