CableMod 12VHPWR Cable Overview

Want to avoid 12VHPWR cable bending? CableMod has the solution for you

Nvidia’s RTX 4090 series graphics cards are chunky. They need to be with the graphics cards’ 450W TDP. Most models are over three PCIe slots thick, and are so wide that they become curiously close to the side panels of most PC cases. That’s bad news high power 12VHPWR connectors, as squeezing power cables beside side panels can result in cable strain, wire bending, and excessive levels of terminal stress.

Last week, CableMod revealed a 12VHPWR 90-degree adaptor, an adaptor that is designed to decrease the strain on these high wattage cables while offering PC builders a more stylish way to power their graphics cards. With this right angle cable adaptor, power cables will now only protrude 23.2mm away from your graphics card. This not only prevents cable squeeze between your GPU and your case’s side panel, it also makes your power cable easier to connect and remove from some graphics card designs.

If Nvidia’s 12VHPWR issues are confirmed to be due to cable strain, CableMod’s 90-degree 12VHPWR adaptor will become a must have product for PC builders. This adaptor allows users to use straight cable runs with their 12VHPWR cables, eliminating the need for tight cable bends entirely.

One of the critical parts of CableMod’s 90-degree 12VHPWR design is that it is available in two configurations. These configurations allow this adaptor to support most RTX 4090 graphics cards and allows users to choose if they want their adaptor facing upwards or downwards, regardless of the configuration of the 12VHPWR connector on your graphics card.

Sadly, CableMod has not revealed what the price of their their 12VHPWR 90-degree adaptor will be, though they have confirmed that they will be available to purchase from October 31st.
