Compact Power! Corsair SF1000 Platinum SFX PSU Review
Conclusion
The SF1000 is a great compact PSU offering from Corsair
With an asking price of £199.99, the Corsair SF1000 is only £20 more expensive than Corsair’s SF1000L. For that price increase, users get a smaller form factor power supply, and an efficiency upgrade into the 80+ Platinum and Cybenetics Platinum range. That gives the new SF1000 a strong value proposition when compared to the company’s existing SFX range, though it is priced similarly to the Cooler Master V1000 SFX Platinum.
The Corsair SF1000 is the most efficient SFX power supply that we have ever tested. In this regard, Corsair’s new SFX unit surpasses Cooler Master’s V1100 and V1300 SFX Platinum units. Additionally, Corsair has managed to best these PSUs when it comes to voltage control. Despite its increase in wattage, Corsair has maintained similar voltage ripple levels to their SF450 and SF600 units. The new SF1000 is a well built power supply that isn’t compromised in any real way by its size. It’s compact, it’s efficient, and it’s quiet in all but the highest load conditions.
Overall, we are very impressed by what Corsair has delivered with their SF1000. It delivers 1000 watts of power in a small form factor without any real compromises. It’s simply a better PSU than the larger SF1000L, and for £20 more it is a no brainer given its efficiency improvements.
The Corsair SF1000 is an enthusiast-grade power supply for small form factor PC builders. It delivers on its promises specifications and is simply the best performing high wattage SFX PSU that we have ever tested.
