Compact Power! Corsair SF1000 Platinum SFX PSU Review
Meet the Corsair SF1000Â
Meet the Corsair SF1000 – A 1000W SFX Power Supply!
Corsair has officially released their first 1000W SFX power supply. Yes, the Corsair SF1000L exists (review here), but it is an SFX-L power supply. That means that the SF1000L is a longer power supply that may not fit inside all small form factor PC cases. This isn’t the case with the SF1000.
Another upgrade that Corsair’s new SF1000 features is its 80+ Platinum and Cybenetic Platinum Effic9iency ratings. Yes, this PSU is more efficient than the gold rated SF1000L. That means that Corsair has made their small factor 1000W PSU both smaller and more efficient. That’s great news for small form factor PC builders and efficiency-conscious PC users alike.
Efficiency and Noise Level Ratings
Corsair’s new SF1000 power supply is both 80+ Platinum and Cybenetics Platinum rated. The PSU also has a Cybenetics Standard ++ noise rating. That means that this PSU is fairly quiet, even under high loads.
Up to 400W loads, this 1000W unit runs fanlessly. This makes this PSU silent under low-medium loads. Under higher loads, this PSU’s fan is turned on and remains very quiet until high load levels are reached. At 100% loads, this PSU will have fan noise levels of 40 dB, though it is worth remembering that users will almost never run their PSU at its maximum wattage consistently (your system should have some PSU wattage headroom after all).
Type 5 Modular Cables
Corsair’s new SF1000 power supply uses Corsair Type-5 PSU cables throughout. Since this PSU is an SFX unit, it is provided with cables that are a little shorter than normal. If you need longer cables, you may need to invest in cable extensions or custom cables from CableMod or another custom cable provider.
Corsair SF1000 Specifications and Cables
Below is a list of all of the cables that Corsair’s SF1000 PSU ships with and their lengths. Note that many of these cables are on the short side, which makes sense for an SFX power supply. After all, this PSU is for small form factor PCs.
This PSU is both ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 certified. This PSU features 105 degrees Celsius rated capacitors and has been made with 50 degrees Celsius operating temperatures in mind. In other words, this PSU can handle hot environments, hotter environments than any consumer use case should be. Corsair have given this PSU a lengthy 7-year warranty.
Cooling this PSU is a 92mm fluid dynamic bearing fan. This fan is only turned on when loads of over 400 watts are applied. This PSU silent under low-power conditions.
