Corsair HX1500i 1500W Power Supply Review
Conclusion
A solid PSU for heavy workloads
Let’s face it, power supplies are boring. Nobody talks about how well their PSU runs. It runs quietly in the background, fueling all of the techno-magic that makes modern PCs work. The HX series has always been recognised for being a reliable workhorse. Its efficiency rating takes a step up from a more common gold rating to a platinum ranking. It also sees its maximum wattage rating creep up to 1500W, which was once considered to be a crazy amount of power (before GPU power draws exploded).
In our testing, the Corsair HX1500i achieved 91%+ efficiency levels at all power levels we tested. It also delivered some of the best voltage ripple results that we have seen recently. It offers everything it promises, living up to the HX series name.
Add-ons like iCUE support are also great features to have if you enjoy tinkering. Power monitoring is a great way to see how your CPU or GPU overclocks impact system power draw. It’s also good for seeing how much power your PC uses while idling, which can be handy knowledge if you are power-conscious. While it isn’t a “must-have” feature for many users, it is a useful one, especially for those who enjoy benchmarking and overclocking.
Continuing a legacy
We’ve used Corsair’s last-generation HX1500i as part of several test systems, and they have always been rock solid. This new model makes some refinements, but ultimately keeps most things the same. The new 2025 model is now ATX 3.1 Certified, PCIe 5.1 compliant, and ships with two 12V, 2×6 power connectors. Outside of that, we have the same external design and the same fundamentals. The new HX1500i is from the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” school of engineering. The old model was great, and Corsair has refined it and run it through the newest set of industry standards.
Corsair has taken its older 2022 HX1500i and made it better. The new 2025 version doesn’t just have the newest industry ratings. This new PSU comes with debossed cables with integrated cable combs, making these cables more aesthetically pleasing. It also comes with two dual-colour 12V-2×6 cables. Note that the original 2022 model didn’t have any 12V-2×6 cables.
With its new 2025 HX1500i, Corsair has refined what was already a solid product. You know what that makes? A better product! The new Corsair HX1500i deserves nothing less than an OC3D Performance Award.
