Thermaltake Toughpower GF A3 Snow 1050W PSU Review
Meet the Thermaltake Toughpower GF A3 Snow
Thermaltake’s all-white ToughPower GF A3 looks great, but does it perform?
If you fancy building an all-white PC, Thermaltake’s Toughpower GF A3 SNOW series is of great interest. Thermaltake offered to send us one over for testing, and we were happy to have a look at a new white hardware option.
For testing, Thermaltake sent us their 1050W Snow model. This PSU is also available in black, with that model lacking Thermaltake’s “Snow” branding. The Toughpower GF A3 1050W is 80+ Gold-rated and Cybenetic Platinum-rated. This PSU also has a Cybenetics A rating for noise levels, making this PSU relatively quiet.
Compact Power
This ATX PSU measures 140mm long, placing it at the low end of the ATX PSU length spectrum. That’s good for a 1050W PSU, and makes this PSU suitable for ALL ATX-sized PC cases. Larger PSUs can be difficult to work with, but the Toughpower GF A3 1050W is as small at ATX PSUs can be. Great news for anyone building a compact system, or simply wants an easier time building their PC.
Pricing
At Scan Computers, this PSU currently retails for £129.98. That’s a solid price for a PSU of this efficiency level and power capacity. For £30 more, users can upgrade to the 1200W version of this PSU, and for £20 less, buyers can move down to this PSU’s 850W version. Both the black and Snow White versions of these PSUs carry the game price. No “White Hardware Tax” with this PSU.
All of the cables provided with this PSU are modular. The white version of this PSU comes with white cables. These cables have white sleeving and are not braided. Note that some of these cables have lettering on them, which somewhat diminishes their aesthetic appeal.
With this PSU comes 1 24-pin power cable, 2 ATX 12V (4+4-pin) power cables, 5 PCIe (6+2-pin) cables, 1 12V-2×6 power cable, 12x SATA connectors, 4x Molex connectors, and 1x FDD (Floppy) connector.
