Burnout Paradise Remastered Performance Review and Graphics Comparison

4K Performance – Easy, right?

Let’s be honest; Burnout Paradise is a game from 2008, a different era for both PC and console gaming. While we could bore you with some 1080p and 1440p results, we know that you all don’t want to waste your time looking at a graph that says nothing but 60FPS. We needed to crank Burnout Paradise to 4K to get any of our graphics cards to show any signs of weakness.

With our Nvidia GTX 1060, we were able to play the game at a 4K 60FPS without a single dip, while our Radeon RX 580 suffered from several momentary drops during play. These drops can be easily mitigated by dropping MSAA to 2x or 4x, though the dips were limited almost entirely to crash sequences, where players have limited to no control over gameplay, making the dips non-consequential.

Moving down to our R9 380 and GTX 960, we can continue to see that Burnout Paradise: Remastered prefers Nvidia graphics solution, though neither GPU has the power to run at a full 4K resolution. Both cards can run the game at 1440p 60FPS without issue, though to play at 4K MSAA needs to be turned off entirely in favour of FXAA or no AA, as this will give performance levels that are similar to the RX 580 on both graphics cards. This will give a solid 60FPS on most occasions with momentary dips in takedown/crash sequences.
