If there is anything that you should take away from this article, it is what you probably shouldn’t play Forza Horizon 5 using the game’s Extreme preset. It is incredibly taxing, and much smoother framerates can be achieved at high settings while maintaining great visuals. For fans of 120Hz displays, high settings will help most of you scratch that high framerate itch.

At 4K on an RX 5700 XT, moving from extreme settings to high settings results in a 100% increase in performance, enabling 60 FPS gameplay. 

Note how Nvidia’s RTX 3070 Ti and AMD’s RX 6800 achieve much smaller performance gains, suggesting that aspects of AMD’s RDNA 2/Nvidia’s Ampere GPU architecture make Forza Horizon 5’s extreme preset a lot more performant.
