Hi-Fi Rush PC Performance Review
8K Gaming – This is as demanding as it gets
If you want your gaming PC’s performance to tank, a simple way to do that is to try gaming at 8K. 8K screens have four times the pixel count as 4K, and an insane 16x pixel count increase over 1080p. Pushing games to this high resolution is insane, and if you have the right hardware Hi-Fi Rush will run at this resolution at 60+ FPS.
At 8K, Hi-Fi Rush ran with an average framerate of 55.3 FPS on our RTX 3080 Ti, and DLSS is able to increase these performance levels significantly. This allows us to achieve relatively stable 60+ FPS performance levels at 8K, though it is worth noting that 1% framerates are low. Hi-Fi Rush is clearly hitting some kind of limit on Nvidia’s RTX 3080 Ti at this insane resolution.
Four our Radeon RX 6800 XT, performance levels are much lower. Average framerates are 33.9 FPS, but minimum framerates remain fairly close to the game’s average. While performance is lower than our RTX 3080 Ti, framerates are more consistent. That said, the game’s FSR 1.0 support does not deliver fantastic results, and Unreal Engine’s TSR support does not deliver high enough performance increased at 8K outside of its Ultra performance setting.
If you have to choose between 8K and 4K at high framerates, choose 4K at high framerates. While this game looks ultra crisp at 8K, the game also looks fantastic at 4K, and if you can also run this game at 120Hz or higher, you will also enjoy the smoothness of increased refresh rates, and the lower input latencies that they can also deliver.
