Kingdom Hearts 3 PC Port Report and Performance Review

4K Performance

At 4K, Kingdom Hearts 3 is a demanding game, requiring strong hardware to enable high framerates within all areas of the game. At 4K, PC gamers will need to lower Kingdom Hearts 3’s Volumetric Cloud setting, as discussed on page 5 of this article, to increase framerates within this game’s most demanding areas. That said, 60 FPS framerates are achievable within most areas of the game.

Graphics cards like AMD’s Radeon RX 6800 and Nvidia’s RTX 3070 or RTX 2080 Ti can achieve 60= FPS framerates across most of the game, with some scenes seeing 90 FPS framerates. In Kingdom Hearts 3, 4K 120Hz VRR TVs and monitors have a clear use case, and higher-end graphics cards could target even higher framerates.

While 4K remains as demanding as ever, 4K high framerate gameplay is achievable within Kingdom Hearts 3, which is great news for PC gamers. It’s just a shame that 4K VRR screens are so expensive.
