NieR: Automata BECOME AS GODS Edition Port Report - The Best PC Version?

1080p Performance – NieR Automata is still a demanding PC title

When trying out NieR Automata’s BECOME AS GODS Edition, we noticed that the game was surprising difficult to run at the game’s capped FPS framerates at 4K using both our Radeon RX 6800 and Geforce RTX 3070 graphics cards. Both graphics cards required lowered Anti-Aliasing settings, allowing the game to reach its 60/59 FPS framerate cap.

At 1080p, we decided to test the game on some older graphics cards, the Radeon RX 580 and GTX 1060 6GB, both of which remain popular today amongst PC gamers. We also tested their last-generation replacements, the Radeon RX 5700 and Geforce RTX 2060.

Using the game’s highest Anti-Aliasing setting (8x MSAA) proved too much for every graphics card we tested. MSAA is a demanding form of anti-aliasing, making it clear why developers mostly avoid this type of anti-aliasing today.

For our RX 5700 and RTX 2060 graphics card, NieR Automata players will need to lower the game’s AA settings to Low (2x MSAA) and Medium (4x MSAA), respectively, for the game to run at a smooth capped framerate.

For our RX 580 and GTX 1060, both graphics cards need to have NieR Automata’s anti-aliasing turned off to get close to deliver smooth framerates. Even with no antialiasing, Nvidia’s GTX 1060 did not maintain a solid 59 FPS in our testing. However, it is worth noting that the performance dip was momentary in our demanding benchmark scene.
