RAGE 2 PC Performance Review

Preset Performance Scaling – RX 580 VS GTX 1060

In the table below we can see that RAGE 2’s High and Ultra settings offer users a minimal performance difference and a huge graphical uplift, making the game’s high preset pointless for most modern setups. A performance difference of a frame or two isn’t worth worrying about, which makes us wonder why Bethesda didn’t do more to differentiate those presets.

RAGE 2’s medium preset offers players a notable performance boost, going so far as to make the RX 580 stay at over 60FPS in our benchmarking location, though the GTX 1060 remains below the much-coveted 60 FPS target. Low settings will give the game another notable performance boost, but it will come with a larger dip in RAGE 2’s graphical quality.

RAGE 2 is designed to offer GPU scaling thanks to these graphical settings and through the use of the game’s dynamic resolution scaler, which explains why RAGE 2’s Low preset look relatively good when compared to a lot of other games.
