VRAM Usage

VRAM usage testing is an inherently tricky business, and VRM utilisation can depend as much on the graphics card used as the game your a playing. In most cases, VRAM use is higher than it needs to be, with games caching textures and other info within VRAM for use later, sometimes long after they have last been used.

Below is the peak VRAM usage of Shadow of the Tomb Raider under the title’s Low, Medium, High and Highest presets, though it is worth noting that VRAM utilisation increases to 6267MB at 1080p using Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s Highest preset when using a GTX 1080 Founders Edition. This represents an increase of over 900MB, showcasing how much VRAM utilisation can vary between GPUs of different frame buffer sizes.
