Shadow of the Tomb Raider PC Performance Review

Graphics Scaling – GTX 1060 VS RX 580 – Low to Maximum

Our main testing within Shadow of the Tomb Raider is conducted using the game’s DirectX 12 version, which consistently offers us the best in-game performance.

On our RX 580 Strix and GTX 1060 Strix graphics cards, both of which are similar to Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s Recommended system requirements, we found that we could access 60FPS gameplay within most areas of the game at High settings. Demanding areas will dip below 60FPS, but these instances are fairly rare within the game.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s High and Medium settings offer almost identical performance levels, something which was expected due to their graphical similarity. The most notable change between these settings is an increase in texture resolution, relegating the game’s high preset to users of graphics cards with plenty of VRAM. Tesselation is also present at High, but tesselated objects are limited to certain scenes and geometry, with ground-level rocks being the easiest to spot.
