The Last of Us Part 1 Early PC Performance Review

The Last of Us Part 1 Early PC Performance Impressions

Performance from 1080p to 8K

Using the test scene we used before, at the start of the game where players carry Joel’s daughter, Sarah, though a infested-infested city, we can see that performance levels are nigh identical on our RTX 4090 graphics card at all resolutions aside from 8K.

If you are using a high-end graphics card, most PC gamers will be CPU-limited in this game. For our RTX 4090, we are CPU-limited at 1080p, 1440p, and 4K, with the game showcasing similar framerates at all resolution. That said, our 4K results see our 95th percentile framerates dip, highlighting that the game is starting to become CPU-limited.

The Last of Us Part 1 has a wealth of graphical options that mostly target GPU performance. Sadly, these options do little to help gamers if their system is CPU-limited, which it will be for most gamers.
