The Last of Us Part 1 Early PC Performance Review

The Last of Us Part 1 Early PC Performance Impressions

Does The Last of Us Part 1 have a VRAM issue?

We have heard reports that gamers using graphics cards with 8GB of VRAM were struggling to play The Last of Us Part 1 on PC, so we decided to measure how much VRAM the game was using during our initial testing. Below you can see the results.

If you are trying to play The Last of Us Part 1 on PC with an 8GB graphics card, we would recommend using High or Medium texture settings, as the game’s ultra preset is best used with a graphics card with 12GB or more VRAM.

At 4K Ultra settings, The Last of Us Part 1 could use more than 14GB of VRAM on our RTX 4090, and at 1440p the game used less than 12GB at the same settings. For gamers with 8GB graphics cards, you are best off using medium or high settings. That said, we do not see users of 8GB graphics cards running into any issues unless they decide to max out this game’s graphical settings.
