The Last of Us Part 1 Early PC Performance Review

The Last of Us Part 1 Early PC Performance Impressions

DLSS Performance

We tried out both DLSS and FSR 2.2 in The Last of Us Part 1, and both delivered similar results in their quality modes. There were some areas where I felt that DLSS had an edge over FSR 2.2, and other areas where FSR 2.2 had an advantage. Either way, both are great alternatives to a native 4K presentation, delivering ample performance increases and similar visuals to native resolution rendering.

Since our RTX 4090 is only truly GPU-limited at 8K we decided to try out DLSS 2. Below, you can see that while DLSS can deliver huge performance gains, it is hard to get The Last of Us Part 1 running at over 60 FPS at 8K, even with an RTX 4090. Perhaps this game need a DLSS 3 update.
