1080p Benchmarks  

Four our main set of benchmarks we will be using our custom graphical settings, as detailed on page six, using a mixture of Medium, High and Ultra settings to offer maximum unit sizes while keeping framerates as high as we can. 

Looking at our GTX 1060, GTX 1070 and GTX 1070 results we can see that even at these settings our minimum framerates are limited by our 4GHz i7 6850K CPU, with our lower-end AMD R9 380 and GTX 960 GPUs offering similar performance levels. Decreasing in-game unit sizes will bring more CPU performance into play, though we think that some minor dips below 60FPS are acceptable in a massive real-time Total War battle. 

Update – We have updated the graph below with benchmark results for AMD’s Radeon RX Vega 56 and RX 580 graphics cards, both of which seems to be a little more CPU limited than their Intel counterparts, offering lower minimum framerate numbers.
