Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia PC Performance Review

Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia PC Performance Review

Scaling to older hardware – GTX 960 VS R9 380

After moving away from high-end hardware, our eyes should always look towards those who game on older systems. This is why we keep our ASUS R9 380 Strix and GTX 960 Strix GPUs in our graphics card test suite, to help give gamers a ball-park figure for how well their graphics card will perform in newer gaming titles.

With both our R9 380 and GTX 960 graphics cards we found that Medium settings were well suited for playing Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia, though those who are more tolerant of framerate dips may want to turn on ambient occlusion if they want to add some enhanced shading into the mix.

The game will automatically change the THrones of Britannia’s texture settings to suit whether or not our graphics card has a large enough frame buffer, using High texture settings for 2GB cards and Ultra textures for 3GB= GPUs.
