Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 Update 5 DLSS/FSR Frame Generation Review
Conclusion
Frame Generation is a great addition to Space Marine 2
Overall, we can’t complain about Space Marine 2’s implementation of Frame Generation. Saber Interactive has done a great job with update 5. Our only complaint is that we feel that the game should have supported this feature at launch. Regardless, we are glad it’s now available to PC players.
Like in many other games, AMD’s FSR Frame Generation technique delivers higher final framerates than Nvidia’s DLSS technology. Clearly, AMD’s technology generates frames faster, but the final image quality is excellent despite this speed. Both techniques deliver pleasing visual results, and neither have notable visual downsides. Both are great additions to Space Marine 2 and should allow more PC gamers to play this game at higher framerates.
Now that Intel has launched their new B-series Battlemage GPUs, we would love to see Saber Interactive add XeSS 2 support for Space Marine 2. While Intel users can use FSR, we would love to see this game support all major PC upscalers. We would also love to see an update for AMD’s next-gen AI upscaler when it launches.
Overall, we are pleased to see Saber Interactive add more PC features to Space Marine 2. Hopefully, the game’s promised Steam Deck support will be arriving soon. This support should allow PC gamers to play Space Marine 2 on lower-end hardware, opening up the game to more players. Additionally, these optimisations may improve framerates for all players, which is undoubtedly a good thing.
