Wolfenstein: Youngblood PC Performance Review

Performance Scaling – RX 580 VS GTX 1060 across all presets

When comparing our RX 580 and GTX 1060 Strix graphics cards, it seems clear that Wolfenstein favours Radeon hardware, even though this is a Geforce aligned game release. Things do change once Turing enters into the fray, though it is also likely that Youngblood will respond equally well to AMD’s Navi graphics architecture.

Moving from Wolfenstein’s Mein Leben” present down to Ultra presents limited performance gains in our test scene, though settings changes in Wolfenstein can be mostly dependent on the exact location that’s being benchmarked. Even so, it is worth noting how similar Wolfenstein can look at each of these presets, a factor that also contributes to the game’s limited performance changes.

PC gamers will get a lot more performance mileage out of Wolfenstein’s resolution scaling options than they will out of most preset changes. This is because Wolfenstein’s visuals are only turned down so far by the game’s presets. This has the advantage of allowing the game to look great at low settings, but at the cost of limited performance scaling outside of resolution changes.
