Kingston Fury Renegade G5 Review
Conclusion
Conclusion
We like products that just tick boxes. So often our conclusions end up with a whole host of caveats. Not so today. When it comes to the any new M.2 drive you’re probably wondering about three things. Is it fast? Is the brand trustworthy? How much does it cost?
Kingston’s Fury Renegade G5 manages to answer all three in a manner that make it attractive. As you can see from our benchmarks, the speed is not in question. The Fury Renegade G5 maxes out our PCI Express 5.0 bandwidth in raw sequential speed. It isn’t just a “big number” show pony either. The smaller block sizes are equally impressive. One thing that will be a positive if you fancy running it as your OS drive is the excellent IOPS result. After all, many background processes make for many IOPS requests. The larger the IOPS result, the less likely the drive is to keep you waiting. With the Kingston Fury Renegade you’re not going to be waiting at all. Last but not least its one of the coolest PCIE5 drives we have tested so definitely deserves to be on your shortlist. No massiveheatsink and fan required here. Perfect.
Our other two questions are also answered in an affirmative way. Kingston are up there with the most trustworthy brands around. Having been involved in the memory market for longer than we care to count, you know they understand their products. Also being a huge company means that if you need to avail yourself of their warranty, it will be a smooth process. Definitely a claim that cannot be made against all storage brands. Lastly most 1TB Gen5 drives are around the £200 mark, so the £182 price point for the Fury is on a par with other brands.
All of which makes the Kingston Fury Renegade G5 a no-brainer if you’re in the market for a fast and reliable storage option, and it wins our OC3D Performance Award.
